Fire-Fighting Control

(P.A.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The Hon. W. E, Parry, addressing the United Fire Brigades’ Association conference, urged ihem to give careful consideration to the proposals for re-organ-isation of control of fire fighting which already had been before the five boards' conference. He repudiated the idea that the Government intended to abolish fin 1 boards. They could do without more boards, but would leave those already formed. A national board should be set up to control smaller bodies throughout, the country and avoid duplication and unnecessary bodies.

They wanted an organisation so that in time of earthquake, flood or live on a large scale, forces could be marshalled where required.
