Persian Gulf Command May Be Sent East

I NEW YORK, Sept. 12. The European strategic picture has I changed so radically that the role oJ the Persian Gulf command which ia handling supplies to Russia may be altered said Major-General Donald Connolly. Persian Gulf commander Major-General Connolly told a Press conference that he had returned to Washington to discuss the future role of his organisation of 30,G00 troops which might be transferred to other critical supply areas, .probably to the Pacific, since the European war is nearing an end. Major-General Connolly disclosed that his command had increased the capacity of Iranian ports seven-fold and added: “The Uniteci States has materially contributed to Russia, but our contribution are only a small part of their needs and of their own contributions. . The United States in no way will want to take credit -for Russian victories.”
