Open American Radio Station For Europe

(8.0. W. 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY

Aoril 30

Mr. Robert E. Sherwood, director of the overseas branch of the United States Office of War Information, spoke from London today on the occasion ol the opening broadcast of “Absie” (American broadcasting station in Europe). He said the station had been established, with the cordial co-operation of the 8.8. C.. to help to tell “our friends in Europe—and our enemies—the truth of this war.

In this great historic year of 1944, Allied radio will bring you

tremendous news.”

“The day is not far distant when your own radio stations will be free to tell you the truth instead of the tremulous lies of the Nazis’, Quislings and c-olaborationists. “Remember, we shall give you a signal when the hour comes for you to rise against the enemy and strike. Until then, be cautious. Your lives are valuable to the Allied cause. Listen to the Allied radio for the word that will come from the supreme commanders, General Eisephower in the west, General Wilson in the south. “Do not be tricked into premature action by the Nazis.”
