The storm travelled diagonally across the town in a path a chain wide, unroofing and otherwise damaging 10 houses, including State houses in course of erection.

One house was completely turned around on its piles. In another case a chimney fell from a collapsed roof and narrowly missed a woman. Roof's and verandahs were carried for miles. In some houses the contents were drawn out and carried a wav.
