“Ride Him, Cowboy,” At Kaitaia Gymkhana
(Special) * KAITAIA, This Dry. •■Ride him. Cowboy!” was the cry during' 1 1 1 ■ • steer-riding event at the patriotic gymkhana held at Kaitaia showgrounds last Saturday. There was a fair attendance, hut owing to other attractions in adjacent districts a number ot competitors could not attend. The steer-riding was the principle event, and caused considerable amusement. Tim greasy pig, tug-o'-war, awl tug-o'-war on horseback, were keemy contested. The steer-riding contest was won by the veteran horseman, Mr. D. .Inmeson, who easily defeated all tae younji<‘r 0011 testant>.
