(Special ) ALCKLAXI >, This l,)ay. The Auckland City Council has endorsed a protest already made hy the Mayor (Mr. A. C. Alluni) against a proposal hy the Rationing Controller that the abattoir authorities should control the supply of meat to retail bluchers, wit it Ihe object of effecting' a reduction of one-third in meat consumption. Iteporting' on the proposal, which laid been made by the controller to repres-n----ta lives oi the Municipal Association, the abattoir manager (Mr. it. littg'g) staled that in order to comply, it would lie necessary to determine, front abattoir records, the actual weight of meat of various classes actually delivered umulitly to each client over a period of three years, the term previously fixed in regard to bacon and pork. This would occupy the full time of two clerks for six •months, as quotas for 2tm retail shops Would lie required.
