Two More M.M. Awards

(P.A).t WELLINGTON, This Day. Advice that the King has approved the award of the Military Medal to two members of the Second N.Z.E.F. in the Middle East has been received by the Minister for Defence (Hon. F. Jones).

They are: Driver Edward John Allen Phelan, of Auckland, and Driver Earle Reginald Silverwood. of Hastings. Drivers Phelan and Silverwood. who were members of the same unit, were posted missing in Greece on June 17. 1941. Later they were officially reported as prisoners of war. In January of this year advice was received that they were safe in the United Kingdom. In civil life, Driver Phelan, who is 2'5. was a motor driver and went overseas with the First Echelon. Driver Silverwood, who is 29, was a panel - beater employed in Wellington and also sailed with the First Echelon.
