Need For Free Press
NEW YORK. April 23. The American Society of Newspaper Editors has called for world-wide freedom of communications for the Press, in a resolution declaring that a free Press is vital for prevention of future global wars. The society elected a committee to work with Government agencies to carryout its principles. The society’s president (Mr. R. Roberts.) said that the American Press was getting "the worst trimming possible in some countries. American despatches from Australia sometimes were 12 hours’ longer in transmission than British and Canadian correspondents’ messages.”
