U.S. Pilots Shoot Down 378 Planes In Five Days

(Rec. 1 p.m.) WASHINGOTN, April 13. United States aircraft from last Saturday to Wednesday of this week, shot down 378 German planes and destroyed many more on the ground in the European theatre of war said the Secretary for War (Mr Stimson). In the same period the United States has lost 137 bombers and 57 fighters. “While the enemy still has power for still more opposition when we carry raids deep into German territory,” said Mr Stimson, “opposition over France and the Lowlands has been declining. The past two weeks have seen full use of British and American air power to support the Soviet drive to crush German plane production 'and existing air forces, and also to wreck ’ vital German communications.”
