The “Perfect Shirker” Goes To Prison

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Sought by the Army because of his failure to report for medical examination in 1941, Charles Brian Brady, 25 shop assistant, who had been impersonating a man named Howe whose levy book he had. was today sent to gaol for three months by the magistrate (Mr F. H. Levien).

A provost sergeant stated that Brady had been working at the sugar works for about 12 months.. using Howe’s name and it was when the military authorities were looking for Howe, who was a military deserter, that accused was found.

The magistrate described Brady as the. “perfect shirker.”
