White Butterfly Not So Prevalent This Year

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Experts at the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research as well as the Department of Agriculture state that the white butterfly is only moderately prevalent this year. The parasite pteromalus, it is declared, is doing its job as w'ell as can be expected It is unlikeiy that the white butterfly Avill become a serious menace to extensive fodder crops tins year, said a representative. It will be necssary, however, for market gardeners to take precautions as regards spraying their crops of cabbages and other vegetables liable to be affected. No complete eliminations of the white butterfly can be expected from the parasite, which, however, it is hoped will keep it in check to a certain extent.
