Turkey Spending Heavily On Defence Works
(Rec. 1 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 12. More than 60 per cent, of the increase in Turkey’s wartime Budget is devoted to the army, said the Prime Minister (M. Sracoglu) in a speech at the opening of savings week l in Ankara. He added: “No expense is being spared in this direction because the nation’s liberty and independence are a very "high prize for the society of civilised men. We shall not hesitate, after sacrificing everything else, to give our blood to safeguard these things.”
