. The Rev. E. B. Moore, vicar of Papatoetoe and formerly vicar of Kaitaia, has been appointed vicar of Ellerslie. in succession to the Rev. F. I. Parsons, who is going to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Mr Moore lately returned from the Middle East, where he was senior New Zealand Anglican chaplain after Bishop G. V. Gerard became a prisoner of war. The death is announced from London of Mr. Richard Austin Freeman, aged Bi. He was a noted surgeon, and as a naturalist and surveyor accompanied several expeditions to Africa, where he practised before taking up specialist work at Middlesex Hospital. He commanded field ambulance units during the Great War. He wrote many novels of adventure and detection, his creation of Dr. Thorndyke’s being particularly well known.
