Special Ration Book For Expectant Mothers

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A new type of ration book vyill be issued to expectant' mothers as from October 1, the Food Rationing Controller (Mr. Thomas) announced last night. This book, which will be issued until a child is six months old, includes special food coupons in addition to clothing coupons and will be issued in place of the special clothing card which has been in use up to the present. The only coupons immediately available are 25'for clothing, six for wool and 12 for infant linen as indicated in the book. Clothing coupons may be used for linen and wool for clothing but not vice versa. The book will be available at all rationing offices and application forms will also be in the hands of maternity hospitals for direct application to the Rationing Controller. Only new applicants are to apply for the book meanwhile.

Expectant mothers who have already received a special card of coupons are to continue using them and may secure a supplementary book with the new general ration book on issue in a few weeks’ time.
