Canadian Election Prospects

■ OTTAWA. September 28 f i The Prime Minister (Mr. Mackenzie King), addressing the National Liberal Federation, said he hoped there would be no necessity for a general election before the end of the war, and added that elections would be held if the war was still raging in 1945, when the statutory life of the present Parliament ended, or earlier if groups of Parliamentarians distorted the Government policies, thus making it impossible for the Government to carry on, or “if happenings at present beyond our ken, outside Canada, make an election necessary.’’

Mr. Mackenzie King also said that the Parliamentary Opposition group, who were consistently playing at politics, .had created an intolerable situation which could not be permitted to continue.
