R.A.F. Raids On Burma

(8.0. W., 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, Aug. 25. An India communique states: “Yesterday R.A.F. Beaufighters and Hurricanes on offensive patrols continued to attack enemy communications in Burma. Along the Irrawaddy and lower Chindwin. 13 loaded supply sampans were sunk and a number of others were damaged. Damage was also inflicted on sampans and other river craft on the Kaladan River. A few miles east of Meiktila, Beaufighters wrecked a locomotive with cannon and machine-gun attack. A formation of Vengeance dive-bombers attacked Japanese supply depot in Beguna, South Buthidaung, and many bombs were seen to burst on the target. From these operations none of our aircraft is missing. A. Middle East communique states: “An enemy aircraft was shot down off the coast of Cyrenaica yesterday. On Monday. Beaufighters attacked and damaged an enemy merchant vessel off the west coast of Greece. From these and other operations, one of our aircraft is missing.
