Will You Marry Me?
LONDON, July 23. Air-Gunner Frank Sergent, of the R.N.Z.A.F.. aged 22, wrote from a prisoner-of-war camp in Italy to Miss Beryl Harris, of Banbury, aged 18, asking: “Will you marry me?” He had to wait a long time for a reply, because the letter written at Christmas did not reach Miss Harris until April. She wrote accepting him. and has now received another letter from Sergent containing £2O to buy an engagement ring. The couple first met at Eanbury two years ago before Sergent was sent to the Middle East.
