POTATO DEHYDRATION

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Dehydration plants for treatment of a proportion of next season’s potato crop are now being assembled in the United States for shipment to New Zealand, said the Minister for Agriculture (Mr Barclay) in the House of Representatives today, answering an urgent question by Mr D. C. Kidd (Oppn., Waitaki), who asked for information concerning future sites for such plant and pointed out that 51 per cent of the total area in 1940-41 was in Canterbury. The Minister stated that the question of location of plants was under consideration and one of ihe -main- factors was proximity to supply of raw material.
