Dairyman Declines To Supply Milk Council
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Reflection on the difficulties being experienced by farmers-to make ends meet under existing conditions, was contained in a letter from a dairy farmer received at a meeting of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council, in which he declined to renew his license to supply up to 160 gallons of milk daily for town supply. In returning the application form, the farmer said that, candidly speaking', net returns from the town milk supply were not commensurate with the work and management entailed. Profits that should be obtained were eaten up by labour demanding higher remuneration than the sale of its production warrants, by heavy replacement costs, lack of fertilisers, and excessive taxation. The council agreed to cancel the liecti.se.
