Power Board Finances

Included in the statement of accounts presented to the North Auckland Electricpower Board yesterday, the sum of £33,362 was shown for the cost of power for the year. Distribution cost was given as £1564 being £6OO for transport, etc., and £963 for wages. Repairs and maintenance totalled £3OBB while management and general was £8615. Special charges amounted to £9lB, and discount allowed to consumers £7848, leaving a net balance to revenue account of £38,765.

Sales of electricity totalled £92,384 made up as follows: Lighting, £18,149; heating and cooking, £25,174: power. £31,518; public lighting, £457; water heating. £17.084. Rents received amounted to £224, while profits from installations and from sales of materials and service lines totalled £ 1554.

Engineering Work In his report to the North Auckland Electric Power Board on Thursday, the engineer (Mr. T. R. Overton) stated the Whangarei constructional gang had been employed during March chiefly on maintenance work and military service lines, the total chainage being 51. Three more applications had been prepared and submitted to the Electricity Controller, two being for proposed alterations to main lines in the vicinity. of Mareretu and Maungatapere sub-stations to proyide new feeder circuits. Plotting work had been done on the link line between the Huarau and Paparoa railway stations.

Surveying work, comprising 1 mile 20 chains of high-tension line, had been completed from Huarau to Paparoa, besides a number of low-tension and water pump services. Authority had been received from the Building Controller to proceed with a further 42 installations, including 22 ranges, 24 water heaters and three new jobs. Approximately 50 other applications are still held up. No reply has been received to the application to the Building Controller for farm installations on the Girls’ High School road, Mangarata.
