Says Son Refused Hospital Admission
Writing to tho Whangaroi County Council yesterday. Mrs. B. McAdam, of Taipuha. stated she had deducted the amount cf the hospital levy from her rale payment on account of admission to the Whangarei Hospifal having been refused her son.
She had a boy in a cottage on the farm and this boy had been refused admission to the hospital. The chairman (Mr. J. A. S. Mac Kay) said it was unfori unate that complainant had deducted the hospital levy from her rates. She had been badly advised. He considered there was some excuse for her thinking she had been badly treated.
She apparently gave the address of her cottage as in the Kaipara hospital district, where she resided. Then* was an agreement between the Kaipara and Whangarei boards to take patients from their respective districts if such did not include their own patients. It was possible Mrs. McAdam’s son was refused admittance as there was no room for him without excluding Whangarei patients. This was Mr. Mackay’s assumption only.
On ihe mol ion of Cr. A. Clarke, a let ter is to be sent to complainant on the lines of the chairman's remarks, and inviting her to supply any further particulars.
