Greatest Opportunity To Build New World

WASHINGTON, June 10

The United States Production Chief (Mr Donald Nelson) in a speech at Columbia, declared that the war production effort would give the United States industrial plant simply beyond all price. Consequently, the post-war generation would have the most magnificent opportunity any nation ever had to build a new world in which poverty was not inevitable any more. For the first time in the history of the human race there would be enough of everything to go round. “This year we will make 60,000 planes.” he said “Before the, end of the year we will be picking up speed for an even vaster production. We have found our total war production higher than we had any reason to suppose could be when we blueprinted war plants.

“For instance a new aircraft factory was designed to produce at full capacity 50 planes monthly. Now we have discovered that the real capacity is 150 monthly.”
