Waikiekie-Waiotira

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

The February meeting of the above institute was held in the Waiotira hall on February 18, when there was a fair attendance of members. The vice-presi-dent, Mrs Yearbury, presided. The motto for the month: “Nothing is ever done beautifully which is done in rivalship, nor nobly which is done in pride,” was supplied by Mrs F. Berridge. The roll call. “My Favourite Recipe,” was well answered. Competition results were: Bottle of Plums, Mrs Yearbury 1, Mrs Watts 2. Baby’s Feeder, Mrs Grantham I, Mrs Yearbury 2. A cup, saucer and plate was presented to Mrs Moore, who is leaving the district. Arrangements were made to send more parcels to local soldiers serving overseas, including 10/- for each prisoner of war.
