Says Barclay Has Usurped Semple’s Job

[Per Press Association —Copyright] WELLINGTON, This Da;,

A complaint was made at a special meeting of the New Zealand RV;«d Transport Alliance that the Minister for Agriculture (Mr. Barclay) had usurped the functions of the Minister for Transport (Mr. Semple) in directing the operation of the road transport system by his interference in livestock transport. The resolution deplored the chaotic conditions that had been created in the stock transport industry by the intervention and control imposed upon the industry by outside interests, which, apparently, had been approved by representatives of the Government without, so far as the industry was aware, reference to the Minister and Department of Transport or to the transport industry.
