[Per Press Association —Copyright.! WELLINGTON, This. Day
Believing that the resolution concerning conscientious objectors adopted by the Presbyterian General Assembly at Timaru recently could be read _as giving encouragement to those seeking to -escape military service under the plea of conscience, a meeting of officebearers of St. John’s Church, Wellington, carried an overture to the assembly which stated that the resolution had. caused wide disappointment and disapproval among Presbyterians.
It was urged that the next assembly pass a resolution setting forth clearly that the church will use all her influence to maintain the integrity of the Commonwealth and would discourage any and every attempt to escape the duty of defending the country.
