Soy Died For City
LONDON, September 14
! Although burials are not allowed in the City of London the parents of Jimmy Emmerson, Home Guard of lhe City at the age of 16, former scout of the Lord Mayor’s Own, knew that he would like his last restingplace to be in his own church—AU-Hallows-By-The-Tower. . Jimmy was killed by a high-explo-sive bomb when fighting incendiaries at Hay’s Wharf, where his father is e caretaker. The wharf is only a few yards from All Hallows. The boy had not lived to see his church burnt to the ground. His body was cremated and the ashes now rest in the ruins of the ancient church. Now the church workers place vases of fresh flowers round the urn containing the ashes of the boy of 16 who died trying to save the city.
