Beef Values On Par At Westfield
[Special to “Northern Advocate”] AUCKLAND, This Day. There was a good yarding of quality ox beef at the Westfield fat stock sale today. Competition was keen for light and medium weights and values remained on a par with late quotations, with a tendency to fall slightly for heavier cattle. Top price was £l6/2/6, There was an average entry of cows and heifers, and all classes were in strong demand. Prices were maintained at late rates. Top price was £l2/7/6. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Dalgety and Co., Ltd., and the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Co., report:— Extra choice ox, to 41/- per lOOlbs.; choice and prime ox, 38/- to 40/-; ordinary and plain, 34/- to 36/-; extra prime young cow and heifer, 33/- to 37/-; choice and prime, 30/- to 32/-; ordinary cow beef, 25/- to 29/-; extra heavy prime steers, £ls/15/- to £l6/2/6; heavy, £l4/10/- to £ls/10/-; lighter. £l3/10/- to £l4; light, £ll/10/- to £l2/10/-; small and unfinished, £lO to £11; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £lO/10/to £l2/7/6; heavy prime cows and heifers, £3/15/- to £lO/10/-; lighter, £7/10/- to £B/10/-; other killable cows, £5 to £6/15/-.
