1,000,000 More Britons For Military Service
(Rec. 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 4. Plans to call up 1.000,000 more men for military service will be announced shortly, says the “Daily Herald.” Those chiefly affected will be men up to 40 now in reserved occupations. It is intended to raise the reservation age in almost every industry by five years. This move is the first indication of vital new decisions on war strategy taken recently by the Government arising out of developments in Russia. These involve the vast extension of the army, which will be given effective strength far beyond what was originally intended.
