Sure Foundation For Defeat Of Germany

(Rec. 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 4. The Commander-in-Chief in India (General Sir Archibald Wavell), broadcasting from Simla on the occasion of the second anniversary of the war, said: “Two years ago brute force challenged justice and peaceful progress and, in fact, civilisation. “The enemy has not yet been defeated, but we have laid a sure foundation for his future defeat. In India an army of 1,000,000 is now ready and 100,000 have gone overseas.” General Wavell exhorted the people not to slacken in the war eqort.
