Australian Potatoes In New Zealand

[Per Press Association. —Copvrightl WELLINGTON. This Day. The Government’s importation of Australian potatoes was mentioned when the House met yesterday at 2.30 p.m. by Mr. J. N. Massey (Oppo.Franklin). In a question to the Minister for Marketing (Mr Barclay) Mr. Massey asked if it was a fact that a substantial tonnage of Australian potatoes had been purchsed by the New Zealand Government, and arrangements made for further supplies despite the fact that considerable tonnage of New Zealandgrown potatoes was now held in store in the Dominion. Mr. Massey pointed out that considerable quantities of early potatoes would be available within the next seven or eight weeks, and if stocks were allowed to accumulate New Zealand potato growers would be detrimentally affected.
