Sudden Death Of Popular Kaikohe Youth

OBITUARY

rSpecial to “Northern Advocate’’] KAIKOHE, This Day. On Saturday afternoon the funeral took place of Thomas Henry Goffe Diekeson, aged 181, who passed away at the Kawakawa Public Hospital on Friday afternoon following a brief illness. The second son of Mr. and Mrs. F.' Diekeson, of Kaikohe, and well-known throughout the North, deceased was born in Wellington, but spent all of his life in Kaikohe. He was educated at the Kaikohe District High School and recently joined the staff of the Kaikohe Post Office. Last season he played football for the Kaikohe club, earning a name as a good sportsman. Enlisted in Air Force He joined the local platoon of the Home Guard upon its formation, resigning from this last week, as he expected to join the Air Force in the near future.

Of a quiet disposition, his death came as a shock to a large circle of friends, and at the funeral, conducted by the Rev. PI. J. Steele, a large number of people expressed their sympathy to his bereaved parents and sister, Fran.

A brother, Fred, is with the Royal Air Force.

The entire male staff of the post office were present at the funeral, the pall-bearers comprising deceased’s former work-mates.
