Christchurch State Houses.—The construction of 340 State houses at Riccartcn is nearing completion. Two years ago 80 acres of land were in the process of being subdivided to plans that required the building of new roads and the provision of reserves and playing areas. Today, tenders have been let for the bunding of houses on every available section, with the exception of one small area. Fell in Sheen Dip.— After falling into a sheep dip on his father’s farm, Peter Mcßean Stewart, aged three, a son of Mr. I. Mcßean Stewart, of Waitene, died about two and a half hours later, states an Invercargill Press Association message. The child was with his father at the wool shed on the property, where Mr. Stewart was working among seme sheep. He wandered away, and was found by his father floating in the sheep dip at the shed. The child, who was in a semi-conscious condition, was removedi to a nursinghome. where he died later. South British Insurance. —The directors of the South British Insurance Company have declared an interim dividend of 9d a share for the halfyear ended on February 28, payable on April 10.
