House Stripped Of Personal Effects; Owners Away

[Special to “Northern Advocate ” 3 AUCKLAND, This Day

Returning after an absence of 11 weeks, Mr ,ancl Mrs W. A. Woodger, of 36 Owen’s Road, Epsom, found that thieves had robbed them of several hundred pounds worth of clothing, household goods and personal effects, and had also removed a large and valuable carpet. There were scenes of confusion throughout the house, articles being thrown about and drawers open, while cigarette. butts had been dropped in rooms. Hail a Meal. Every drawer, wardrobe and. cupboard was open, and articles which the thieves had discarded were strewn everywhere. Apparently the burglars had been leisurely in their survey of the premises, for particles of cake on the kitchen table and dregs in glasses suggested that they had made a meal there. Two Fur Coats. One wardrobe, in which Mrs Woodger kept her personal clothing was completely stripped of its contents, including two fur coats and several pairs of shoes. All their bed linen, silver, glassware and most of their blankets had been stolen, but in the disordered state of the house it was difficult to say how much had been taken. Either a motor truck or a car must have been used to cart away the huge quantity of property which, was taken.
