Grandora Shows Up At Takanini This Morning
[Special to “Northern Advocate”! AUCKLAND, This Day. The middle grass, on which the poles were 18ft out, was in excellent order at Takanini this morning. Rain fell during the breakfast interval and little work was attempted afterwards.
The best efforts were recorded by Grandora, Full Hand, River Plate, Sea Law, Surpai and Court Favourite. Full Hand was four lengths in front of Queen City, with Hunting Bee six lengths away, at the conclusion of a mile in 1.44, the first three furlongs taking 40, and the first four 52. Full Hand worked impressively and had a little in reserve at the end. Lapidarian and Ascot Bloom were on terms at the end of a mile on the plough in 1.52, the last half mile taking 52. River Plate was a length in front of Himalaya at the finish of four furlongs in 51. Opuatia and Kawariki being on terms at the end of a similar trial in 51 4-5.
The honours of the morning went to Grandora, who hit out pleasingly while recording 1.1 2-5 for five furlongs. He is in excellent order.
Sea JLaw was a length in front oi Hine-iti, with Heroic Star four lengths away at the conclusion of a similar trial in 1.3 3-5.
Brazen Bold and Voorlouper ran five furlongs (from the six to the one) in 1.3, Brazen Bold working attractively. Onetea hit out well while traversing three furlongs in 37 4-5, while Surpai and Court Favourite ran six furlongs in 1.13 3-5, the first three taking 36 4-5.
