Kaikohe Inspector To Produce Cow “Victim”
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] KAWAKAWA, This Day.
“If our inspector finds -any cow on the road unattended, he should immediately impound it, and, if the people have been warned, action should be taken.” This statement was made by Cr. D. A. Lusk at a recent meeting of the Kawakawa Town Board when the matter of harm being done to the Irishtown footpath by wandering stock was under discussion. In remarking that more care
should be exercised, the chairman (Cr. D. A. Williams) stated that the hoard did not want to be hard on anyone, but they must have a victim and that it was up to the inspector to see that they had one for their next meeting.
. A letter was received from the Taumarere Women's Institute asking that the date for their stall be altered from March 22 to March 29 to avoid clashing with the Moerewa show. The request was granted. Indiscriminate Parking.
Regarding the indiscriminate manner in which cars are parked outside the Post Office, Cr. McKeown was requested to bring the matter before the county council as the controlling authority, pointing out that a parking notice appeared to be necessary. Instructions were given the Town Clerk to procure the necessary dogcollars, the fee being left the same as last year. With a view to grading and connecting Bowen Street and Vogel Street the county engineer is to be approached with a request that he estimate the amount of land required from the bank section to give the necessary curve.
Cr. Cookson and the Town Clerk were authorised to have the chairs in the reading room repaired, the chairman remarking that the inside of the room would have to be redecorated in the near future.
Cr. Williams was appointed supervisor for,the month, the schedule of work drawn up being approved.
