Mrs. C. F. Reed, Well-Known Okaihau Resident

OBITUARY

ISpecial to “Northern Advocate”] OKAIHAU, This Day. A well-known and highly lespected resident of the Okaihau district, Mrs Katherine Reed, died on Sunday at her residence after a very long illness. Aged 79, Mrs Reed was born at Waipu, being the eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Charles Lewis. At an early age she came to the Okaihau settlement, where she married Mr C. F. Reed, well-known throughout the North. Mrs Reed has been an invalid for the last 20 years, her illness causing her many years of painful suffering, during which time she was most cheerful. There was no family of the marriage. Yesterday afternoon a large attendance at the Okaihau Anglican Church paid last respects to Mrs Reed, and many beautiful floral emblems were laid on the grave. The service was conducted by the Rev. Mr Fussell, and the chairman and members of the Bay of Islands County Council, of which Mr Reed is a member, were present, together with representatives of many other local bodies.
