Whangarei Not Farthest North

Reference to, the popular fallacy existing among authorities in Wellington and elsewhere that Whangarei is situated in the extreme North of New Zealand was made .at the meeting of local body representatives held today. There was little appreciation of the distances which had to be travelled in attending conferences, it was stated. Unless information which was really worthwhile and definite was forthcoming, it was undesirable that meetings should be summoned.
