Values Rise At Addington

Short yardings of fat cattle and sheep came forward at Addington, and prices of both rose, cattle by £1 to £ls/ and sheep by 2/. The cattle entry (264 head) was of medium quality. Good beef brought 50/ per 1001 b; best, to 55/; extra prime steers, to £26 12/6; medium to heavy, £ls 10/ to £22; others, £lO to £ls; best heifers, £l3 5/ to £l9 2/6; others, £8 to £l3; best cows, £lO 10/ to £l9 7/6; others, £5 to £lO. In view of the small entry of fat sheep the rise of 2/ was moderate. Best wethers made 45/ to 60/; ordinary to good, 39/6 to 44/9; light, down to 32/; best ewes, 40/ to 50/4; good, 30/6 to 39/6; light, down to 22/.
The pork entry was small, and prices the highest of the season. Baconers shewed a little, change ' except for heaviest, which were easier. Pork averaged BJd to 9£d a lb, and bacon 7£d to Bd.
