Council's Action Against Straying Stock

[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] KAWAKAWA, This Day. A motion that in future owners of stock found on county roads, and impounded, should be prosecuted at the discretion of the council, was passed at the monthly meeting of the Bay County Council on Thursday, A letter was received from Mr G. Dobson, stating that on a recent day 30 head of cattle were-straying on the road at Kikou, including eight bulls.

Cr. G. H. McKenzie stated that 30 was too low, and he was sure the figure should have been closer to 130. It was decided that rangers should be sent to the district in the near future, when all stock on roads will be driven to the Kpwakawa pound, and owners prosecuted.
