Seasiders Conduct Patriotic Stall Today

By the evidence of shellfish, it is obvious that the Patriotic Stall in Rust Avenue today is being conducted by seasiders. It is!

Whareora, Parua Bay and Whangarei Heads have combined for the effort.

At daylight this morning some workers were at the stall, and a “butcher” was carving up the 3£ sheep contributed.

Although the stall did not open until 9 a.m., the meat had been completely sold out by 11 o’clock. All through the morning cars and lorries arrived in a constant stream, and there was no shortage of produce. In the stall a big staff from the three districts were kept busy from the moment of opening, and farm produce of all types found a ready sale. In addition to vegetables, meats, cakes and flowers, there were sacks of pipis and mussels, offering a fish diet to those whcf patronised the stall. Every indication early in the day was that the stall this week might constitute a record turnover.
