Motor-Cars.—A message from London says motor vehicles registered throughout Britain last month totalled 14,590, compared with 56,821 in March last year. Cars fell from 39,264 to 6611. Warships.—A message from Batavia says the People’s Council has approved a Bill providing for the construction of three battle-cruisers for the defence of the East Indies. Iron.—The German Government has ordered the removal of all iron gates and garden fences throughout Germany. The confiscation of all metal door handles is expected, states a Zurich message. King Gustav.—A message from Stockholm says King Gustav was the first subscriber to the £25,000,000 defence loan with a personal contribution of £12,500. Denial. —The War Office denies an American report that the British commander at Namsos has been superseded by a Frenchman, and that British troops are untrained and without reserves.
