Fears Grow In Sweden, Balkans
(Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON. April 11. Fears of infringement of Swedish neutrality are intensified by the possibility of a German demand of right of passage for reinforcements for Norway. The Swedish Admiralty, in a statement, said the western waters had been mined for 75 miles. ■ Planes and troops are patrolling the whole frontier. Partial evacuation has been begun at Gothenburg, outside which antiaircraft guns shot down an unidentified plane. Anxiety is also increasing in the Balkans. The Belgrade correspondent of “The Times” says a German warning that she will ignore Rumanian sovereignty and police the Danube is given in an official declaration to the Berlin correspondent of the Bulgarian newspaper “Oltro.” Authorised German and Rumanian official circles deny any ultimatum.
