Few Recruits Before North Medical Boards
Only 24 Europeans and 11 Maoris went before medical boards in the three principal Northland centres yesterday. At Dargaville one Maori who appeared before the board was found to be 67 years of age with two sons already in camp. Of 17 Europeans who were medically examined at Whangarei eight were passed as fit, one temporarily unfit, two permanently unfit, and six fit for home service.
Two Maoris were also examined, both being passed fit. Two Europeans and two Maoris presented themselves at Dargaville, all being passed as fit with the exception of the Maori who was over age.
Five Europeans faced the board at Kaikohe, three being passed fit, one fit for home service and one. temporarily unfit. Six Maoris were passed fit and two were found to be temporarily unfit. Returns from Kaitaia and Warkwor.th have not yet come to hand.
