£50,000,000 For British Colonies
(Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON. February 20. It is officially stated that legislation is to be introduced providing for upwards of £5,000.000 annually for a decade for the assistance of colonial Governments. It also provides for the establishment of a Colonial Research Advisory Committee with a separate allowance of £500,000 annually. Rumours were rife in Whangarei today that New Zealand would participate in this financing. The legislation provides, however, for the Colonial Empire only, and the Dominions will not participate.
