Surprise in Singles Bowling Championship

Surprise of the third round in the Hikurangi Bowling Club's singles championship was the defeat of an ex champion, J. N. Stark, by a second year player. The distinction of accounting for such a seasoned campaigner fell to D. Cochrane, who won 21—8. Other recent games have resulted: W. Robinson beat R. Scott, 21—5; and C. Robinson beat C. Latham. The new green was inspected this week by Mr W. M. Horton, of the Greens Research Committee, in company with the superintendent, Mr J. N. Stark. Mr Horton gave all the information desired and said there was every indication that the green would be in readiness for the club’s annual tournament at Easter.
