Nurses Enlist For Military Service

Two members of the nursing stall at the Whangarei Hospital have volunteered for military service. The matron (Miss E. Swaync) advised the board at the monthly meeting today that Miss F.. Taylor (submatron) and Miss M. Whelan (sister in charge on night duty) had volunteered. Following advice from the Director of Nursing Services (Miss M. I. Lambie) regarding volunteers, in which it was stated that she considered it inadvisable to select Miss Taylor as the one staff nurse required from the Whangarei Llospital, in view of her appointment as assistant matron, particularly as a new matron was being appointed, the matron said she had forwarded the name of Miss Whelan to the director as the nurse selected for medical examination for military service. The matron’s action was approved.
