Training Improves Whangarei Swimmers

The best swimming seen at a club night this season was provided at the school baths last evening when tho benefit of hard training for the carnival on Saturday evening was illustrated.

Saturday’s carnival against Mount Fdcn Club members and the carnival postponed from fast Thursday and now set down for February' 20. will give Whangaroi swimeir.tr, plenty of competition. lin es, r.s well as results, indicate the improvement that has taken place and it is also noteworthy that style is better.

Among the most improved ot the Whangarei swimmers are Misses N. Fro van, D. Kennett, E. Webb, E. Wiley and N. Budding, while Miss D. Stringer, I\ T . Cavanagh and F. Reed are showing better form. Junior Improvement

L. Mortimorc has been moving well, while R. Cavanagh has advanced, but still inclines to tangle with tho ropes.

Improved stroking has been revealed by D. Redwood, a tip which might be taken by the Newberry twins, while the last, three weeks have improved A. Turketo and J. Mc-Kin-non.

Great improvement has been shown among the junior boys. Following his trip to the championships at Dunedin, where he swam well against boys much his senior, R. Rice is in excellent form and promises achievement in the future..,

Owing to ear trouble, D. Fairley will not bo available for the remainder of the season and his services will be missed at carnivals. The senior relay team has been chosen as follows: M. Alach, J.
