Doubles Final In Croquet Tournament
Occasional showers of rain yesterday interfered with play in the Whangarei Croquet Club’s annual tournament. The handicap doubles have been finalised with Mrs Harrison (Whangarei) and Mrs Bullock (Hamilton)' the winners. They won section two while Mrs Hilton (Auckland) and Mrs Barriball (Kensington) won section one, the final resulting in a win for Mrs Harrison and Mrs Bullock, 26—22. Games played were: k Handicap doubles, Mrs Hardley and Mrs Whitmore beat Mrs Morrison and Mrs Sloane, 26—24* Mrs Hilton and Mrs Barriball beat Mrs H. Wilson and Mrs Smith, 26 —18. ; Handicap singles, Mrs Reynolds beat Mrs May, 26 —24; Mrs Hardley beat Mrs Sloane, 26—9; Mrs Sloane beat Mrs Whitmore, 26—20; Mrs Hardley beat Mrs Wilson, 26—9; Mrs Morrison beat Mrs Whitmore, 26 —14; Mrs Sloane beat Mrs Smith, 26 —16; Mrs Watt beat Mrs Barriball, 26—20; Mrs Nisbet beat Mrs Whitmore, 26—14; Mrs Reynolds beat Mrs Barriball, 26—12. Championship doubles, Mrs Harrison and Mrs Bullock heat Mrs Nisbet and Mrs Calder, 26—17; - Mrs Nisbet and Mrs Calder bent Mrs Walker and Mrs Watt, 26—22.
