Plot To Slay U.S. Ambassador In China

(Received 1 p.m.) NEW YORK, January 25. A Japanese military spokesman said that extraordinary precautions were being taken to assure the safety of the United States Ambassador to China (Mr N. T. Johnson) following the discovery of a Chinese plot to assassinate him In Japanese-controlled territory to cause a crisis in Japanese-American relations, says the Shanghai correspondent of the United Press. Mr Johnson is at present aboard the United States gunboat Luzon, on the Yangtse.
