Busy Days At Waitangi

There is great activity at Waitangi in preparation for the ceremony there on February 6. All of the buildings for use of visiting Maoris, who will bo guests of the Ngapuhis. are nearly complete. A monument in memory of Captain Hobson is being built in the grounds outside The Residency. The second of the carved canoes has been launched, but. it has not been named yet.

The carved house, 80ft. long by 33it. wide, is a remarkable wort/, The interior walls are covered with panels of tukutuku, and ceiling and walls are decorated with panels of carving in the usual Maori style.

Most; of the work has been done by Maoris in the vicinity.

A message from London says the Epsom spring and summer meetings, which include, the Derby, have been abandoned.
